Detention pond construction and maintenance, subsurface stormwater controls and pond water-quality management across Central Texas.

Universal City grew up around the air base, and much of its retail and apartment property is decades old. The detention basins behind those buildings are old too, often squeezed into leftover space, with concrete structures that have cracked and spalled. Caliche sits close to the surface here, so runoff comes off pavement fast and arrives all at once. A basin that has lost a foot of depth to silt will not hold what it used to.
On these sites we are usually working with very little room. We bring smaller equipment in, clean the bottom and forebay, and get sediment out without tearing up the parking lot. Concrete inlets and outlet risers get checked for cracks, loose grates and blocked orifices. We patch what can be patched and flag clearly what has moved past maintenance into repair. Slopes get mowed and heavy vegetation cut back.
If you manage apartments or a retail strip in Universal City, the easiest setup is a maintenance calendar you do not have to think about. We mow through the growing season, check structures after big rain, and tell you well ahead of time when the basin is filling in. Send us the site plan or just the address. We also provide ponds & stormwater in these nearby communities:
Yes. Corral Bros is a pond and stormwater contractor serving Central Texas, we build detention and retention ponds, maintain them, install and service subsurface stormwater control measures (SCMs), and manage pond water quality. Most of this work is for commercial properties, HOAs, developments and municipalities along the Austin–San Antonio corridor.
Detention pond maintenance keeps a basin working and inspection-ready: sediment and silt removal, mowing and vegetation control, clearing inlets, outlets and outfall structures, repairing erosion, and regrading as needed. We can also provide inspection documentation to support regulatory compliance.
Yes, apartment and multifamily property is a lot of what we do here. Slope mowing, trash removal from the basin, outlet cleaning and sediment removal all go on one schedule. We work around resident parking and keep the equipment footprint small on tight sites.
We can repair minor concrete damage, replace grates and trash racks, and clear blocked orifices. If the structure has shifted, lost reinforcement or looks like it is failing, that is an engineering question and we will say so instead of patching over it. We can coordinate with your civil engineer and do the maintenance portion.
Most of the time the outlet is restricted, either by debris on the trash rack, a silted low flow pipe or sediment covering the orifice. Sometimes the bottom has filled in enough that the pond no longer has a proper flow line to the outlet. We check the structure first because that is the cheapest fix.
That is usually the better arrangement. We are a licensed landscaping contractor and a pond contractor, so slope mowing, turf repair and in-pond work come from the same crew on the same visit. It also keeps the landscape crew from blowing clippings into the basin, which is a common cause of plugged outlets.
For routine mowing and inspections we can usually start within a couple of weeks. Larger sediment removal gets scheduled around weather and access, since hauling wet material off a soft basin floor makes a mess and costs more. If water is standing where it should not be, tell us and we will get out sooner.
