The right trees, planted right, for shade and value that grows for decades.
Planting trees on a Lago Vista hillside is different from planting in town. The rocky slopes around Lake Travis, the thin soil, and the distance from mains water mean trees need to be selected and placed with real care from day one. Get this right and you gain decades of shade, privacy, and value on your waterfront or Highland Lake Estates lot. Get it wrong and you're replanting in five years.
The local terrain here is actually an advantage if you know how to work it. We choose species that thrive in rocky, well-draining ground and handle the Hill Country sun. Placement matters too. We look at your slope, your western exposure, and where afternoon shade will do the most good. Then we get the root flare right, stake for wind, mulch properly, and give you a deep-water establishment plan so your new tree has what it needs to take hold.
Corral Bros handles tree planting all through the Hill Country, and we know Lago Vista inside out. Licensed, insured, and family-built. We'll come out, walk your property, talk through what grows well here and where it should go, and give you a free estimate. Most of the time we can schedule the work within 48 hours of your call.
We're a local, family-built company that treats your Lago Vista property like our own — tidy crews, clear pricing, and tree planting that holds up to Travis County conditions. Available as a one-time project or part of an ongoing plan.
The best shade trees for Central Texas include live oak, cedar elm, Texas red oak, bur oak, Mexican sycamore and Monterrey oak, all adapted to local soil and heat. We help you pick the right species for your space, then plant it correctly for decades of growth.
Fall through winter is the best time to plant trees in Central Texas, giving roots several months to establish before summer heat. Spring is the next-best window. Fall-planted trees need the least supplemental water to get going.
Live oak, cedar elm, and Texas ash handle our thin, rocky hillside ground without complaint. Escarpment cherry and plateau live oak are great if you want something smaller and tougher. We avoid trees that need deep, rich soil and constant moisture. When we come out for your estimate, we'll look at your specific slope, sun exposure, and drainage to recommend what'll thrive there for decades.
Cost depends on the size of the tree, how many you're planting, and the site conditions. Rocky slopes take more prep work than flat ground does. We'll come do a free, no-obligation on-site estimate. Walk your property, measure it out, and give you a clear price before any work starts. Call us at (737) 404-9343 to get that scheduled.
You'll need a solid deep-water plan. After planting, we mulch to hold moisture and reduce surface runoff on your slope. For the first growing season, plan on weekly deep soaking if we're in a dry spell. We'll walk you through exactly what that looks like at the time of planting so your tree has the water it needs to establish strong roots in that rocky ground.
Fall through early spring is ideal, from late September through March. Cooler weather and dormancy mean less transplant shock. We can plant year-round in Texas, but summer heat on a rocky hillside with new trees means extra watering work. We'll talk timing with you when you call and help you pick the window that fits your schedule and your property.
Hillside planting takes technique. We dig on the contour so water doesn't run straight past the root ball. The root flare has to sit level, even if the slope doesn't. We stake for wind load, mulch to prevent erosion, and plan drainage so water settles in, not around, the tree. Every tree gets staked and positioned for the slope's specific exposure.
