If you’re planning a landscape project along the I-35 corridor, timing matters. Central Texas sits in USDA hardiness zones 8b–9a, and our brutal summers are hard on anything that hasn’t had time to root.
Fall is the best window
Planting in October and November gives new sod, trees and shrubs months of mild weather to establish roots before the heat returns. Fall installs also need far less supplemental water.
Early spring is a close second
March and April are the next-best window — warm-season grasses are waking up and root in quickly.
What about summer?
We install year-round, but sod and plants laid in peak summer need careful, frequent watering to survive. If you’re set on a summer project, we’ll build a watering plan that gives it the best shot.
